Unit 9  Come and meet the family!

教材分析:

一、语言知识:

1.语法:名词所有格,祈使句。

2.语音,词汇,交际用语         

二、语言技能:

要求学生能利用所给予的“家谱”进行简单的人物关系的描述,能较流利地来表述家庭成员间的关系;在课堂活动中用简短的英语进行交际,用已学过的英语对家庭成员进行简单的描述;培养学生听、说、读、写的能力和提高表演能力。

三、情感态度:

让学生利用实物进行表演,在具体情境中感受英语所带来的乐趣,体会用学过的知识进行交际所带来的乐趣。增强学生学习英语的兴趣和信心,通过对家庭成员之间关系的陈述,增进学生热爱家人的情感;通过互动合作加强彼此间的沟通与学习,增进同学之间的友谊。

四、学习策略:

使学生明确自己学习的需要,明确自己学习英语的目标,在学习中善于记要点,把握学习的主要内容;积极参与课内外英语学习活动,能用英语与他人交流。

五、文化意识:

了解英语国家家庭成员之间的称呼习俗;了解英语国家正式和非正式场合不同的使用语;用恰当的方式表达请求意义,加深对中外文化差异的理解。

分课教学设计:

Lesson 33

Teaching Aims of knowledge:

1.Words: family, grandmother, grandma, grandfather, grandpa, dad, wife, husband, daughter, son, parent(s), big, England

2.Expressions: Come and meet the family.         

Teaching Procedures:

Step1: Revision

① greetings and free talk with Ss

② Show an old flashcard to revise the word “father, mother, sister, brother” and the use of possessive forms “Jim’ sister, Kate’s brother” etc.

  “--Who’s this man?  --He’s Mr. Smith. He’s David’s father/Joy’s brother.” etc.

  Step2: Presentation

①   Show the picture of each person from the text. Ask the Qs.

--Who’s this boy?     --He’s Jim Green.

--Who’s this girl?     --She’s Kate Green. She’s Jim’s sister.

--Who’s that man?     --He’s Jeff Green. He’s Jim’s father. He’s Jim’s dad.

(Teach and repeat “dad”.)

--Who’s that woman?    --She’s Helen Green. She’s Jim’s mother. She’s his mum.

--Who’re Jeff and Helen?  --They are Jim’s father and mother. They’re his parents.

              (Teach and repeat “parents”.)

②   Then point to the old man and woman , saying: “This man and woman are old. This is Harry Green and this is Jean Green. They’re Jeff’s parents.” (Repeat the people’s names.)

T: What’s the relation between Jim and Harry?

S: (Help Ss answer) Harry is Jim’s grandfather. He’s Jim’s grandpa.

  Teach “grandfather, grandpa” and repeat.

T: What about Jim and Helen?

S: Helen is Jim’s grandmother. She’s Jim’s grandma.

  Teach “grandmother, grandma” and repeat.

Explain that it in English children sometimes call their grandparents “grandpa” and “grandma” in spoken English.

③   teach “son” and “daughter”.

T: What’s the relation between Jeff and Jim?

S: Jim is Jeff’s son and Jeff is Jim’s father.

T: What about Kate and Jeff?

S: Kate is Jeff’s daughter and Jeff is Kate’s father.

T: Jeff and Helen are Jim and Kate’s parents. And Jim and Kate’s are their children.

 What’s the relation between Jeff and Helen?

S: They’re wife and husband.

Teach “son, daughter, wife, husband” and repeat.

Note: wife----pl. wives

④   Point to all the people we’re mentioned ,present Jim’s family tree

T: Look! This is a family! It’s Jim’s big family. Now let’s come and meet the family. There are six people in the family. They are all from England. What is it like?

S: It’s like a tree!

T: Yes. It’s like a tree. It’s called “family tree”.(Explain it in Chinese if necessary.)

Teach “family tree, big, England” and repeat.

Note: The plural form of “family” is “families”. The word “family” in the sentence “come and meet the family” refers to the people.

  Step3: Practice

①   Practise the member of Jim’s family. Listen to the tape in SB. Page41, Part1, L33 as a model. Then get one student to be Jim. Ask him to introduce his family.

②   Use the context in SB. Page41, Part2, L33 as a listening test.

Listen to the tape and answer the following Qs (Qs are from Ex.2 in Wb L33).

Before listening, read the Qs first. Then finish Ex.2. Then open the book and read the text.

③   If you’re Jim’s friend. Say something about your friend, Jim’s family.

Get one student to be Jim’s friend. Introduce Jim’s family.

  Step4: Homework

①   Read the text fluently. Copy the new words.

②   Finish Ex.3 in Wb.

Lesson 34

 Teaching Aims of knowledge:

1.Words: aunt, uncle

2.Expressions: Go and see. I think it’s… . Nice to see you. Please come in.    

Teaching Procedures:

 Step1: Revision (Greetings)

①   Revise the members in Jim’s family. (Use the flashcard.)

--Who’s this man?     --He’s Jeff Green. He’s Jim’s father.

--Who’s this woman?    --She’s Kate’s mother.

--Who’s Kate?       --She’s Mrs. Green’s daughter.

--Who’s Jean Green?    --She’s Jim’s grandma.

--Who’s Jim’s sister?

--Is Kate Mr. Green’s daughter?        etc.

②   Get the Ss ask their partner something about their families each other, using the pictures of their family trees to introduce their families.

Sept2: Presentation

①   Show a flashcard, saying:

Please look at this picture. This is Jim’s family. Look at this woman. She is in Jim’s family, too. She’s Mr. Green’s sister(Jim’s father’s sister). She’s Jim’s aunt. (Write the word “aunt” on the Bb. Explain the meaning and the pronunciation. Get the Ss to repeat.)

Point to the man. This man is in Jim’s family, too. He’s Mr. Green’s brother(Jim’s father’s brother). He’s Jim’s uncle. (Write “uncle” on the Bb. Explain it. Get the Ss go repeat the word.)

②   Ask some Qs according to this picture on the Bb (from Part1, Lesson34).

T: Who’s this man?       S: He’s Jim’s uncle.

T: Who’s that woman?     S: She’s Kate’s aunt.   etc.

Step3: Ask and answer

   SB. Page42. Part1. Lesson34

①   Say: Close your books. Listen to a short dialogue between LiLei and Jim.

Answer one question: What’s Jim’s uncle’s name? (John, Uncle John.)

②   Open the books and get the Ss to practise asking and answering Qs about this picture in pairs. Then do it for us.

③   Give Ss a task: Show a photo of their family or classmates. If any other Ss want to know something about this photo (just like the person’s name, age, relation, etc), you can ask the owner of this photo and get the information.

Step4: Read and act

   SB. Page42. Part2. Lesson34

  Now let’s listen:

Open the books . Listen and repeat.

       Note: The sentences just like “Go and see”, “Please come in”, “look at the books/ Bb”, “Open your books” are all imperatives. 祈使句皆以动词原形开始,表达一种命令。

①   Give them 3 minutes to practise this dialogue in three.

②   Ask several groups to act out this dialogue for the class. First with books, then without, using the clock as the ring bell.

Step5: Homework

①   a: Listen and read the text fluently.

b: Finish Ex.3 in Wb.

c: According to Ex.2 in Wb, write a short passage in the exercise books.

 

Lesson 35

 Teaching Aims of knowledge:

1.Words: afternoon , do, seat, like, look like

2.Expressions: Good afternoon. How do you do ? Please have a seat. Glad to meet you.

Teaching Procedures:

 Step1: Warming-up

① have a small competition :any questions about Lesson34 and Lesson35 is ok.

Eg: --Who’s this?         --Is Jeff Green Jim’s father?     etc.

② Revise some greetings and introductions.

  Step2: Read and say

     SB.Page43. Part1. Lesson35

① Revise introductions then lead in this dialogue in Part1.

Prepare the following short dialogue with two students before class.  A: Good afternoon!     B: Good afternoon!

  A: This is my friend B. This is my friend C.

  B: How do you do?     C: How do you do? Please have a seat.

  B: Thank you!

② Play the tape and let the Ss listen and repeat.

③ Divide the class into groups of three. Get them read in roles.

Note: We say “Good afternoon” instead of “Good morning” after midday—between noon and about 6 a.m.

④ Get three Ss to act the dialogue.

  Step3: Presentation

① Say: Look at Page43. Part2

--What can you see in the picture? --Jim, LiLei, Mrs Green and Kate.

--Where are they?        --At Jim’s home.

Let Ss read the dialogue loudly.

Note: “Glad to meet you” means the same as “Nice to meet you”.

      Point to the dots after LiLei’s name on Page43. Help Ss to answer for

LiLei. They may give more than one correct answer but remind that LiLei is talking to an adult so he will be more formal.

② He would say “hello, hi” instead of “how do you do” when he talks to Kate. Help the Ss to answer for LiLei and Kate in Part2.

Step4: Read and act

Get the Ss to work in groups of four to complete the dialogue in Part2.

Act out for the class.

Tell the Ss to listen to see whether the dialogue are same or not.

Step5: Read and say

   SB Page43. Part3. Lesson35

   Draw a cat on the Bb. Say:

    This is Lucy’s cat. Do you know its name? (Mimi.)

    Show a hat. Say:

    This is Lucy’s hat. (Repeat “hat”.) Does the cat look like Lucy’s hat? (look like = be like prep.)

   Play the tape and listen and repeat.

   Read in roles.

   Do Ex.2 in Wb Lesson35.

Step6: task

   Suppose :you are visiting one of your friends’ family, make up a new dialogue taking those in Part2,3 as the reference.

Step7: Homework

①   Read the text fluently. Copy the new words and expressions.

②   Finish Ex.3 in Wb.

*③ Finish Ex.4 in Wb.

*④ Read the dialogues in Parts1&3 of the Ss’ book. And then make one similar dialogue in the exercise books.

Lesson 36

Teaching Aims of knowledge:

1.Words: doctor, worker, guess

Teaching Procedures:

Step1: Warming-up

First the teacher can act a dialogue which is prepared before the class with several Ss, then ask the Ss to act their own’s.

Step2: Presentation

   Draw Miss Gao, Mr. Green, LiLei and Sally Jones on the flashcard.

Point to Miss Gao, saying:

    --Who’s this?     --She’s Miss Gao. She’s a teacher. She’s Chinese.

    Help the Ss to give as many answers as possible. Then point to the other people and repeat the same steps.

Step3: Look and say

   SB Page44. Part1. Lesson36

   ① Show Picture 1 and introduce it, just like name, age, job, study/work place and so on.. Then show other pictures and let the Ss to try to say anything about it as more as possible. Ss can give different  answers. During it teach the new words “doctor, worker” and the useful expression “can you guess”.

②Introduce more job words like: engineer, scientist, shop assistant,cleaner,

policeman, etc.

③   Open the book and look at the pictures and the text. Fill in the blanks. Ss can give different answers. Like the last picture, Picture 5, we can give the answer to the last sentence: “

Is she like her dad or mum? I think she is like her mum.”

(Note: is like=looks like, is similar to) 

Then get them read the text together.

 Step4: Show and talk

     SB Page45. Part4. Lesson36

     Let Ss talk about their families using the pictures each other. Then get one say something about

his/her partner’s family according to the picture.

 Step5: Listen and answer

Get the Ss to look at the 3 pictures in Ex.6 of Wb Lesson36.

Listen and find the right picture for Nick’s family.

Finish Ex.2 in Wb Lesson36. Listen and write.

 Step6: Listen, read and say

1.   Show all the words in this part on a piece of paper and get Ss to think over, then put them into several groups.eg: ten ,two, boat, meet

2.   make any sentences with at least two words in each group.

Step6: Homework

① Read the text and copy the new words.

② Finish off Exx.5, 7, 8 & 9 in Wb.

As Ex.4 in Wb, find a picture and write a passage about your family in the exercise book.
