学习指导
1. 过去进行时与一般过去时:
两者都用以表示过去发生的动作，前者强调过去正在进行的动作，后者则表示一个完成的动作。
e.g. I was doing my homework at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. 昨天下午四点钟的时候我正在写作业。
I did my homework yesterday. 昨天我写了作业。
He was reading his novel when she came in. 她进来的时候他正在读小说。
Tom was watching TV while Jim was reviewing his lessons. 汤姆在看电视，而吉姆在温习功课。
2. I was feeding my dog. 我正在喂狗。
feed (v.) 给吃，喂
e.g. Have you fed the animals? 你喂过动物了吗？
After feeding the children, she washed all the dishes. 给孩子们喂饭后，她把所有的碗都洗了。
He fed fish to the cat. 他把鱼喂给了猫。
3. choose the best answers 选择最合适的答案
choose (v.) 选择，挑选，决定
e.g. After a little time, she chose one of the most expensive dresses in the shop and handed it to an assistant. 过了一会儿,她选定了店里最贵重的一件衣服,并把它递给一个店员。
She chose to study chemistry. 她选择了学化学。
Whom shall we choose for our school football team leader? 我们选谁当学校足球队长？
He chose not to go home. 他决定不回家了。
His uncle chose to settle in the countryside. 他叔父决意在乡下定居。
choice (n.) 选择
e.g. She had to make a choice between the two dresses. 她得在两件衣服中选择一件。
She is the people's choice for Prime Minister. 她是人民选出来的首相。
Which is your choice? 你选哪一个?
4. Masha and Sasha were fed up with their neighbor Misha because he was always borrowing things from them. 玛莎和萨莎烦透了他们的邻居米沙，因为他总是从他们那儿借东西。
be fed up with 厌烦，烦透
e.g. Little by little, I began to be fed up with examinations. 渐渐地，我开始厌烦起考试来。
She is fed up with the way he speaks. 她对他说话的样子厌烦透了。
borrow sth. from sb. 从某人处借某物
e.g. He borrowed $200 from a friend last week. 上星期他向朋友借了200美元。
He lost his book and borrowed one from another boy. 他的书丢了,就从别的男孩那儿借了一本。
He has never borrowed money from me. 他从未向我借过钱。
比较：lend sth. to sb., lend sb. sth. 把某物借给某人
e.g. Can you lend me that book for a few days? 你能把那本书借给我几天吗？
I asked him to lend his bicycle to me. 我要他把自行车借给我。
5. One morning there was a knock on the door. 一天早上有人敲门。
knock (n.) 敲击声
e.g. Just now I heard a knock on the back door. 刚才我听见有人敲后门。
Listen! There is a knock on the door. 听！有人在敲门。
6. He decided to refuse him politely. 他准备礼貌地拒绝他。
refuse (v.) 拒绝，不接受
e.g. She refused to help me. 她不肯帮助我。
The big clock refused to welcome the New Year. 这只大钟不愿迎接新年。
He refused treatment. 他拒绝治疗。
politely (adv.) 客气地 polite (adj.) 客气的
e.g. When I was young, my mother told me to be polite to others. 我小的时候,妈妈叫我对人有礼貌。
She gave him a polite reply. 她给了他一个有礼貌的回答。
“Excuse me,” she said politely. “对不起，”她客气地说。
7. …but I need a pair of garden scissors. 我需要一把修剪花园的剪刀。
a pair of 一副，一双
e.g. Two more pairs of trousers are dirty. 另外两条裤子脏了。
There is a pair of glasses on the desk. 书桌上有一副眼镜。

8. We’ll be working all day in the garden. 我们一整天都将在花园里劳动。
will be doing是将来进行时，表示将来一直在干某事。
e.g. I will be reviewing my lessons tomorrow. 我明天将复习功课。
She will be waiting for you at the school gate tomorrow evening. 明天晚上她将在学校门口等你。
all day整天 相当于all day long
e.g. I cannot imagine that he watched TV all day yesterday. 我无法想象他昨天一整天都在看电视。
We stay with each other all day. 我们一整天都待在一起。
