This summer, I was very lucky to win the first prize in the English speaking competition. This make me able to visit Japan for four weeks.For weeks , all the students stayed in a hotel in Tokyo and were given Japanese language classes. We also had classes on Japanese culture, like flower-arranging and the art of tea-making. We went on a short trip and visited a television station.
After that, we visited Kyoto, the old capital of Japan, and Yokohama. We stayed with friendly families in these cities.
I thought that, if I went to foreign countries, I would make new friends. This turned out to be true. I met and talked to students from Korea, Brazil and Australia, and many Japanese. I left Japan three months ago and since then, I have kept in touch with my new friends by writing letters.

Hello, ladies and gentlement. I am your guide today. First, I’d like to tell you something about our next stop—Turpan. Turpan is a city in Xinjiang about four hours by bus from Urumqi.And it is quite different from Urumqi which we visited just now.
It is a very interesting place. It is the second lowest place on earth. It used to be called “The land of Fire” because it is so hot in summer. However, in winter it is very cold.It has many bazaars, something like our markets. It is a place for families and friends to talk and laugh and do business. They sell delicious fruits, especially grapes and melons. They also sell donkeys and goats. You can find many colourful carpets and pottery, too.
You may also visit many other interesting places, like Kashi, also known as Kashgar. It is the westernmost city in China. It isn’t as hot as Turpan in summer because it’s in the mountains.
