Ted, an 11-year-old boy was hit by a car when he was running for a ball in the street. The doctors at the hospital told Ted’s parents. “Ted is in a coma. Maybe he will wake up tomorrow. Maybe he will wake up next week. Or maybe he will never wake up.

Every day Ted’s parents sat next to Ted’s bed. But Ted never talked to them. He just slept.

One day Ted’s father said, Wake up, Ted. Wake up and come home and play with Dan.” Dan was Ted’s dog. Suddenly Ted moved his arm. “Dan” Ted’s father said again. Again, Ted moved his arm.

The next day, Ted’s parents brought Dan to the hospital. When they put the dog on Ted’s bed, Ted opened his eyes and hugged the dog. Ted’s parents brought Dan to the hospital every day. After seven weeks Ted was well.
