第三部分: 阅读理解 (共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)
A
Many teenagers feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members, especially their parents, don’t know them as well as their friends do. In large families, it is often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for advice. It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or many friends. Even when they are not with their friends, they usually spend a lot of time talking among themselves on the phone. This communication is very important in children’s growing up, because friends can discuss something difficult to say to their family members.
However, parents often try to choose friends for their children. Some parents may even stop their children from meeting their good friends. The question of “choice” is an interesting one. Have you ever thought of the following questions?
Who chooses your friends?
Do you choose your friends or your friends choose you?
Have you got a good friend your parents don’t like?
56. Many teenagers think their _________ know them better than their parents do.
A. friends B. teachers C. brothers and sisters D. classmates
57. When teenagers stay alone, the usual way of communication is to _________.
A. go to their friends B. talk with their parents
C. have a discussion with their family D. talk with their friends on the phone
58. Which of the following sentences is TRUE?
A. Teenagers can only go to their friends for help.
B. Parents should like everything their children enjoy.
C. In all families, children can choose everything they like.
D. Parents should try their best to understand their children better.
59. The main idea of this passage is that _________.
A. Teenagers need good friends
B. Friends can give good advice
C. Parents often choose friends for their children
D. Good friends can communicate with each other
B
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games are drawing near. Are you eager to enjoy watching the matches or start serving as a volunteer? First, you need to know about audience manners.
The behavior of courtside audiences is considered to be an important part of sporting culture. In 2004, after world champion Stephen Hendry lost to Ding Junhui in the China Open Snooker Championships, he complained of the noise from Chinese spectators. Perhaps you and your classmates could be written on the back of the tickets. Read your ticket carefully before you leave, remember to take away your soft drink bottles and other trash (垃圾).
During exciting games, try to control yourself. Don’t criticize the performance of players and coaches. Be careful with your words, since some may cause anger among other people in the audience.
Applause is a special form of body language you can use to communicate with players. But you should do it properly. When players first appear, clap your hands together to welcome them, but don’t go on for too long. After an excellent performance, applaud warmly. If someone fails, your applause will help encourage them.
Applause is not welcome, however, while a game is in progress and players need to keep their concentration. Various sports have various rules for the audience.
Enjoying artistic gymnastics requires silence. But lots of cheering can really help basketball and football players. Snooker and table tennis courtside behavior includes a ban on flash photography. Mobile phones are not allowed in shooting centers.
To be a good spectator, you should take time to learn the game-specific rules and related culture of each event.

A. Players B. Audiences C. Coaches D. Organizers
61. What should you do during an exciting football game?

A. How to be a good audience of Beijing Olympic Games

C. How to control yourself at Beijing Olympic Games
D. How to be a volunteer at Beijing Olympic Games

As China develops, the Internet's presence is inescapable. But some get addicted to the Internet. 13-year old Xiao Yi paid the high price for his. He rode an elevator to the top of a 24-storey building and then jumped to his death. His suicide note explained he wanted to enter another life to meet the characters from the online games he played constantly, sometimes days in a row. “He had a kind of fixation.” Xiao Yi’s father says, “He threw himself into an imaginary world."
Internet addiction got attention in China when stories such as Xiao Yi's popped up in China state-run press. Internet addicts died from exhaustion after spending days online or murdered others in search of virtual (虚幻的) possessions. Public anger over these incidents spurred the opening of China's first Internet addiction treatment center.
The clinic's treatment might seem cruel. But it's a popular choice for worried parents.
"Ever since our door's opened, every bed has been full." says the center's director. 20 at a time come for medical treatment and counseling(咨询). They are also kept busy with activities, designed to take their attention away from the attraction of computers.
"I'm confident this will work or I wouldn't have come here," explains this college student. Critics aren’t so sure. Some argue the government is exaggerating (夸大的) concerns about Internet addiction as an excuse to ban Internet cafes and game sites. But for China's estimated 2 million Internet addicts, the temptation of the wired world is a real problem.
64. The best title of the passage may be __________.

67. We can infer from the passage that _________.
A. China has settled the problem of Internet addiction
B. Only juniors get addicted to the internet
C. Only parents are worried about the problem mostly
D. No practical methods have been found to completely solve the Internet addiction

These days, if you still think the cellphone is just for talking, you will get laughed at. Yes, it’s true, voice-only handsets have become out of date. Today’s do-it-all mobiles have a lot in common with the computer. The only difference may be that they fit in your pocket and you pay by the minutes to use them. Some of the things a cellphone can do for you will be available this year:
Surf at speed
Cellpones that let you use the Web have been around for years. So, what’s new? Well, faster third-generation(3G) net works let you surf at anywhere. This then allows a carrier to send video, music, and games to your phone. Possible choices are from LG Electronic VX 8000 and Motorola V 1150.
Listen as you go
The problem with most cellphone MP3 players is that they hold only a handful of songs. But, that’s about to change. Sony Ericsson’s new W800i can hold around 150 songs in its 500 MB memory. And Sumsung’s SPH-V5400 even comes with a 1.5 GB hard drive. Mobile phones may eventually replace mini-MP3 players, especially for teens.
Say cheese
Camera cellphones are not new either. But, most of them have limitations: around 1-megapixel(百万像素). But new technology has made 2-megapixel units more common and 3-megapixel units are showing up soon. Some 2-megapixel models, like Sony Ericsson’s K750i, offer limited zoom and focus controls. Others, like LG’s recent MMA7110, can even capture 30 minutes of full- motion video.
Portable TV
You say you like “watching TV”? That’s what Sumsung MM-A700 wants to give you. The new model lets users watch popular TV programs—for a fee. Other choices are Nokia’s 6620, Sanyo’s MM 7400 and NEC’s N940.The NEC model lets you watch public TV—no fee.
The above are just a handful of what you will see in the coming months. Further down the road, your mobile phone may play a host of other roles, such as mobile credit card, position locator… So what is there that a cellphone can’t do?
68.Which of the following models should you choose to listen to the music?
A. Sumsung’s SPH-V5400 and Nokia’s 6620
B. Sony Ericsson’s W800i and Sumsung’s SPH-V5400
C. Sony Ericsson’s W800i and NEC’s N940
D. Sanyo’s MM7400 and NEC’s N940
69.What’s the difference between NEC’s N940 and other models?
A. It allows you to surf the Internet at a high speed
B. It can capture 30 minutes of full-motion video
C. It can hold as many as 150 songs
D. It lets you watch public TV for free
70.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. All the functions of the models mentioned in the passage are completely new
B. Camera cellphones of 3-megapixel units will appear soon.
C. It is certain that a cellphone can do anything in the near future
D. Today’s do-it-all mobiles have nothing in common with the computer
71.This passage may be___.
A. an instruction to some new models of cellphones
B. an advertisement trying to persuade you to buy new cellphones
C. a science fiction trying to attract readers’ attention
D. a survey to find the development of cellphones.

Global warming is now believed to have set off a chain reaction wiping out entire frog (青蛙)populations and could possibly drive many species (物种) to death, a new study suggests. Using records of sea-surface and air temperatures, researchers determined that harlequin frogs are disappearing nearly in step with the warming climate. At least 110 species of brightly colored harlequin frogs once lived near streams in the Central and South America tropics. Nearly two-thirds disappeared in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
According to researchers, the Earth’s rising temperatures increase cloud cover on tropical mountains, leading to cooler days and warmer nights. This creates the perfect growing conditions for chytrid fungus (壶菌)— a skin fungus that causes deadly infections in amphibians (水陆两栖动物).
“Disease is the bullet that’s killed the frogs,” said study leader J. Alan Pounds. “But climate change is the main cause. Global warming is causing great damage to amphibians, and soon will cause unbelievable losses of biodiversity (生物多样性).”
The fungus kills frogs mostly in cool highlands or during winter, which had scientists thinking that low temperatures made it more deadly. However, this evidence shows it grows best between 63 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit, suggesting that it grows well in warm years as well. In 2004 it was reported that nearly one-third of the world’s 6,000 species of frogs face death. But it’s not just bad news for frogs. As global warming and the emergence of infectious diseases continue, the two will cause an immediate threat to biodiversity and a growing challenge for humans.
“The good news, if there is any, is the new findings will open up avenues of research that could provide scientists with the means to save the amphibians that still survive,” Bruce Young said. “If this cloud has any silver lining, that’s it.”
72. The first paragraph uses harlequin frogs to show that ________.
A. over two-thirds of frogs have disappeared
B. there were ever 110 species of harlequin frogs
C. entire frog populations are reducing a lot
D. the warming climate leads harlequin frogs to reduce
73. According to the passage, the global warming will directly lead to the following results EXCEPT _______.
A. great losses of biodiversity B. the spreading of fungus among humans
C. cooler days on tropical mountains D. chytrid fungus growing well
74. It can be inferred that faced with the future of the amphibians, Bruce Young was _______.
A. disappointed B. low spirited C. hopeful D. happy
75. The purpose of the passage is mainly to tell readers that ________.
A. more frogs are dying with global warming
B. global warming has an effect on animals
C. animals are related to each other
D. harlequin frogs will cover the whole world
