“BANG!” the door caused a reverberation(回声).It was just standing there, with father standing on one side , and I on the other side.
We were both in great anger” Never set foot in this house again!” stormed father. With tears welling up in my eyes, I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street.
The street lights were shining rather desolately(凄凉的).I wandered aimlessly.
A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me.I felt as if I saw my childhood
from another space: happy and harmonious.
But now...I don’t know whether it is because I have grown up or because dad is getting old.We differ in our ways of thinking. He always imposes his opinions and codes of behavior on me.Whenever I do something wrong, he never admits it.We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron door between us that can never be opened.
I wandered the streets, without a destination in mind.My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on there were fewer and fewer people on the streets, until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived ,I saw that the light was still on.
I thought to myself: “Is father waiting for me, or is he still angry with me?”
In fact, it was nothing.Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps.Perhaps he thought they were useless.I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps.I can’t stand his outrageous(蛮横的)words: “I can’t throw you away, let alone these old papers ?”
All the lights were off except father’s.
Dad was always like this.Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any mercy or any moments of regret. After an argument he has the habit of creeping up in my sleep and then tucking me underneath the covers.
This was how he always was.He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature.
The light was still on.“Am I wrong?” I whispered ,maybe...With the key in hand, I was as nervous as I had ever been.At last, I decided to open the door.As soon as I opened the door tears ran down my cheeks.I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all.Love—it second to none.

Li Ao, a famous Taiwan writer, TV commentator, historian and lawmaker, arrived in Beijing yesterday for his first visit to the mainland in 56 years, Li, 70, said he was driven not "by nostalgia (怀旧) but by curiosity, insisting he did not come to see the old China he had lived in, but rather "to See the new China".
During a 12-day visit, he will speak to students at three top universities Peking University tomorrow, Tsinghua University on Friday and Shanghai' s Fudan University next Monday.
He will meet schoolmates of his former primary school in Beijing, visit the Palace Museum and participate in TV programmes and online chats. Waving his new passport before departing Monday from Taipei, Li said he was eager to make his first trip since his family left the mainland in 1949. After visiting Beijing, he will head to Shanghai, where he will give a lecture at Fudan University. After that he will visit Hong Kong and then return to Taiwan on September 30.
Last week, at a conference organized by Hong Kong based Phoenix Satellite Television, Li said he hoped the trip would promote cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

He is well-known by mainland intellectuals (知识分子) for his satire, sharp commentaries and criticism. He is also honoured as a loyal advocate ( 拥护者 ) of China' s reunification (重新统一), which he believes is "irresistible" and has maintained that the sooner reunification comes, the more beneficial it will be for Taiwan.
In a related development, Peking University authorities say Li will be permitted to read some ancient books, which are rarely shown to the public. Beijing' s No. 4 Middle School, where Li once studied, also says it plans to give him his student card as a gift. Li published his autobiography (自传) in 2001. His novels include "Mountaintop Love".

With the National College Entrance Examination drawing closer, Senior 3 students will do almost anything to ensure success — even change what they eat. More than 70 per cent of high—scoring students in last year's exam
admitted to taking "brain food", according to a survey conducted by the Shanghai Hercules Teens Research Centre last August. However, only 30 per cent of them said they would do this again. Experts say that, as long as they eat properly, teens will have no problem getting enough nutrition (营养) from their daily food. So what should you be eating? A good start is to eat foods that give you a variety of nutrients. For each meal, choose several kinds of food from each of these groups:
* Vegetables?
* Fruit;
* Bread, cereals(谷类食品), noodle and rice;
* Milk, yogurt(酸奶酪) and cheese;
* Meat, poultry(家禽), fish, dried beans and peas, eggs and nuts.
You can eat healthily without giving up your favorite foods, but you should limit the fats you eat to keep your cholesterol (胆固醇) low. Only animal fat provides cholesterol, which is known to cause heart problems. While most people like the taste of table sugar, there are already sweeteners "hidden" in many foods. Sugars can be found in honey, dried fruit and concentrated (浓缩) fruit juice. They are also presented in ingredients(成分) such as corn syrup (糖浆) that are added to soft drinks, cookies, and many other foods. If you have high — energy needs, sweets can be a useful source of calories but they contain limited nutrients and can cause tooth decay(腐朽).
When eating out, look for boiled or baked rather than fried foods. And try eating milk —based high—calcium (高钙) foods instead of creamy items to reduce the fat and calories you take in. The teenage body changes quickly, so your attitude towards nutrition now can make a big difference to your health in years to come.
64. Many Senior 3 students take "brain food" ___ __.
A. to deal with heavy workloads B. to perform better in college entrance exams
C. to have enough nutrition D. to improve their brains
65. What is eating properly, according to experts?
A. Keeping away from animal fat. B. Having a balanced diet.
C. Eating foods that supply high energy. D. Choosing different kinds of vegetables and fruits.
66. Which of the following statements about sweeteners is wrong?
A. They can be found in soft drinks and cookies.
B. They contain a large amount of calories.
C . Eating too many of them may hurt your teeth.
D. Sweetener is another way of saying table sugar.
67. What is important to your health, according to the last paragraph?
A. Limiting the amount you eat of your favorite foods.
B. Not believing in "brain food" blindly.
C. Having a correct understanding of nutrition.
D. Paying attention to the changes in your body.

Nanotechnology is a fashionable word these days. The name “nano”(纳米) comes from the size of molecules, which are measured in nanometers—or one billionth of a metre. Through operating the atoms and molecules, scientists can change the nature of common materials and even create new materials that have new properties.
But scientists are concerned about its possible risks to our daily lives.
Clothing merchants claim their nano—cloth keeps our bodies warmer in winter, saving us from needing thick coats. Vitamin companies boast their nano—pills are easier to absorb. Home decoration companies suggest you use their nano—paint, which has no smell, is waterproof, and free from poisonous substances.
Nanomaterials are making our lives better, its creators say. The US National Science Foundation predicts nanotechnology research will grow into a US $-trillion industry over the next 10 years.
But relatively little is known about the potential health and environmental effects of the tiny particles. Just atoms wide, they are small enough to penetrate(渗透) cells easily in lungs, brains and other organs. US best—seller “Prey”, written by Michael Crichton, paints a doomsday(世界末日) in which a group of tiny nanomachines escapes the lab and threatens to take control of humanity.
Studies have shown that some nanoparticles can be poisonous to animal cells. There are fears that exposure can cause breathing problems, since nanoparticles could be taken in through the nose, causing unknown problems to brain cells. Scientist also fear that nanoparticles placed on the skin could damage DNA. “No one knows, and that’s the problem,” said Pat Mooney, director of the ETC Group. “People are rubbing them on the skin as sunscreens(防晒油) and as cosmetics.”
Mooney’s group is calling for products such as sunscreen, that are directly absorbed into the body to be taken off the shelf until they’re proved safe.
68.What do you think is nanotechnology is?
A. It is a fashionable technology that operates the atoms and molecules.
B. It is a fashionable technology that can be used to create DNA.
C. It is a fashionable technology that is created by a scientist named Nano.
D. It is a fashionable technology that combines chemistry with physics.
69. What benefits can nanotechnology bring to us except ____.
A. It can allow us to be free from thick coats by wearing clothes made of nano-cloth.
B. It can allow us to create more new materials to meet the need of our modern society.
C. It can help us to take control of the doomsday.
D. It can help us to decorate our homes more environmently friendly.
70. Studies have made it clear that ______.
A. exposure to nanoparticles can damage DNA.
B. rubbing nano cosmetics on the skin can help control skin diseases.
C. all nanoparticles can’t be poisonous to animal cells.
D. the nanoparticles have bad effects on health and environment.
71. What the underlined part “be taken off the shelf” in the last paragraph mean?
A. Mooney’s group recommends that consumers to buy nano products such as sunscreen on the shelf.
B. Mooney’s group suggests that nano products such as sunscreen win a great success on the shelf.
C. Mooney’s group suggests nano products such as sunscreen be sold on shelf instead of on the street.
D. Mooney’s group suggests nano products such as sunscreen be proved safe before they are sold.

We all know that DNA has the ability to identify individuals but, because it is inherited, there are also regions of the DNA strand which can relate an individual to his or her family (immediate and extended), tribal group and even an entire population. Molecular Genealogy (宗谱学) can use this unique identification provided by the genetic markers to link people together into family trees. Pedigrees (家谱) based on such genetic markers can mean a breakthrough for family trees where information is incomplete or missing due to adoption, illegitimacy or lack of records. There are many communities and populations which have lost precious records due to tragic events such as the fire in the Irish courts during Civil War in 1921 or American slaves for whom many records were never kept in the first place.
The main objective of the Molecular Genealogy Research Group is to build a database containing over 100,000 DNA samples from individuals all over the world. These individuals will have provided a pedigree chart of at least four generations and a small blood sample. Once the database has enough samples to represent the world genetic make-up, it will eventually help in solving many issues regarding genealogies that could not be done by relying only on traditional written records. Theoretically, any individual will someday be able to trace his or her family origins through this database.
In the meantime, as the database is being created, molecular genealogy can already verify possible or suspected relationships between individuals. “For example, if two men sharing the same last name believe that they are related, but no written record proves this relationship, we can verify this possibility by collecting a
sample of DNA from both and looking for common markers (in this case we can look primarily at the Y chromosome (染色体)),” explains Ugo A. Perego, a member of the BYU Molecular Genealogy research team.
72. People in a large area may possess the same DNA thread because .
A. DNA is characteristic of a region B. they are beyond doubt of common ancestry
C. DNA strand has the ability to identify individuals
D. their unique identification can be provided via DNA
73. The possible research of family trees is based on the fact that
A. genetics has achieved a breakthrough
B. genetic information contained in DNA can be revealed now
C. each individual carries a unique record of who he is and how he is related to others
D. we can use DNA to prove how distant an individual is to a family, a group or a population
74. If two men suspected for some reason they have a common ancestor,________ .
A. we can decide according to their family tree
B. we can find the truth from their genetic markers
C. we can compare the differences in their Y chromosome
D. we can look for written records to prove their relationship
75. Which of the following CANNOT be inferred from the passage?
A. We are a walking, living, breathing record of our ancestors
B. Many American slaves did not know who their ancestors were.
C. An adopted child generally lacks enough information to prove his identity.
D. Molecular genealogy can be used to prove a relationship between individuals.

Scientist also fear that…”可推知科学家“担心”这些问题,而不是科学研究的结果。从文章第五自然段“Studies have shown that some nanoparticles can be poisonous to animal cells.”
74. B。细节推断题 题干的表述相当于第三段第二句的“if two men sharing the same last name believe that they are related”,做题依据是本句的后半句“we can verify this possibility by collecting a sample of DNA from both and looking for common markers(通过采集两个人的DNA样本寻找共同的遗传标记来确定这种可能性)”,B项符合。
76.was→ is。It is + 一段时间+ since +… , 且从句用一般过去时。

Recently we have held a class meeting to discuss what is considered to be honorable behavior and what is shameful. To be frank, some students don’t respect their teachers or parents. Some don’t take their studies seriously and cheat in exams. Still some litter around, making the school dirty.
It is really a pity to see all this in our school. We think it honorable to obey the law and rules and care much about our class. It is also worthy of praise to study hard. On the hand, it is shameful to break school rules, to be selfish or to make little effort to achieve success.
To improve the present situation, what shall we do in future? Firstly, set ourselves a goal and work hard to achieve our ambitions. Secondly, respect others and think more of them than of ourselves. In addition, we should try hard to keep the environment clean.
